Summary of the Tamarack Residential Program
Intake and Assessment
- Most people's first point of contact is our intake facilitator.
- You can call her with questions about Tamarack or addictions treatment in general and you can also discuss with her your situation and readiness for treatment.
- If Tamarack seems like the right step for you, you will be invited to come in and complete an application form and participate in an assessment interview.
- Together you will draw up a plan of action and, if applicable, set the date for beginning treatment.
Individual Counselling
- Clients are assigned an individual addictions rehabilitation counsellor on admission to Tamarack.
- Individual counselling sessions are scheduled at least once per week.
- An individualized recovery plan is developed and reviewed as the program progresses.
- Our counsellors bring a wealth of knowledge to their work and they are experienced in working with issues connected to unresolved trauma, grief and loss, family violence, relationships, anxiety and depression.
Group Therapy
- Groups are held twice daily, Monday to Friday.
- Morning groups focus on recovery and life-skills. Workshops include Anger Management, Boundaries, Relationships in Recovery and Relapse Prevention.
- Afternoon sessions take the form of a therapy group, providing clients with opportunities to discuss and explore issues and to give and receive support.
Therapeutic Community Living
- Sharing a living space with individuals who are working through similar issues is a significant part of Tamarack’s program.
- In this structured environment clients build important skills such as learning to interact respectfully, fitting into a healthy routine and taking responsibility in maintaining a home.
- Clients then take these skills into their lives outside, taking care of themselves and others more effectively.
Aftercare
- Tamarack provides unlimited aftercare support to graduates of the program through our weekly Aftercare Group.
- Tamarack's Aftercare Counsellor facilitates this process and serves as a mentor and life skills coach.
- Aftercare provides peer support, trust, learning and friendship.
